Editeur Du Gite
Second, Ascot, Friday
Editeur Du Gite remains without a win in Britain but he did a lot of good things at Ascot last week and looks well up to exploiting his current handicap mark.
Successful over hurdles in his native France, he met with an 570-day injury setback shortly after joining Gary Moore for €150,000 in May 2018 and his two runs last season, including in Grade 2 company, were pretty much a write off.
However, he’s shown a good level of ability in all his three starts this term and was an exciting watch throughout at Ascot on Friday, jumping boldly under an attacking front-running ride.
He didn't quite get home from the last but a similar ride on a track which places more emphasis on speed should bring reward. [Marcus Buckland]

Too Friendly
Third, Lingfield, Wednesday
There was not too much in the way of market confidence around for Too Friendly ahead of his debut over a mile at Lingfield last week, but he ran a race full of promise when staying on powerfully in the final furlong for third at odds of 40-1.
Closely related to 7f-1m2f winner Ay Ay, he came from an unpromising position under Callum Shepherd and was eating up the ground in the last 100 yards, finishing right on the heels of the well fancied Positive Man and Unforgotten.
He will have learnt plenty from this experience and looks sure to be a major player in something similar next time. [Marcus Buckland]

Foxes Tales
Second, Kempton, Wednesday
Few horses will catch the eye in the manner that the Andrew Balding-trained Foxes Tales did on his debut in a novice event over 1m at Kempton last Wednesday.
This 400,000gns yearling, who has a host of winners in his pedigree including dual Group 1 heroine La Collina, was on the backfoot as soon as the stalls opened and he had a good deal of ground to make up turning for home.
However, such was his relentless progress against the far rail in the straight that the colt managed to get within a length of the winner Beating All, who conversely enjoyed the run of the race.
Although the proximity of the third holds the form down, there is little doubt he is a very exciting prospect who can leave these bare facts behind in due course. [Richard Young]

Percy Warner
Won, Navan, Friday
Even though he is with a yard that is chock full of talent, Percy Warner looks one to keep on the right side in the coming months judging by his hurdle debut win in testing ground over 2m at Navan last Friday.
The Gordon Elliott-trained Irish point-to-point winner cost his new owner €100,000 and travelled strongly when he only had to be pushed out to hold bumper winner Flaming Maneuver, with the pair pulling clear of the rest.
This was all the more praiseworthy given the amount of stamina there is in his pedigree and the four-year-old is sure to improve again, especially as he goes up in distance.
His end of season objectives will be clearer after his next couple of starts, but he is a potentially smart sort who should be at least as effective when he goes over fences. [Richard Young]
