'He has everything' - unrivalled gallops insight from our man in Newmarket

Several times a week, the Racing Post's Newmarket correspondent David Milnes is up at the crack of dawn surveying the massed racehorses of Newmarket as they work on the town's famous gallops.

His binoculars have spied many superstars of the future – including, memorably, a young Frankel outpacing a local commuter train – and Members' Club Ultimate subscribers and Racing Post newspaper readers will benefit from season-long insight from one of racing's most experienced and uniquely placed judges.

This week's dispatch from David, who is also the current Flat naps champion, has been made free to read as a sample. Sign up to Members' Club Ultimate here to get access to all his insight, all season.

Guineas clues

Coroebus was granted special permission to use the Rowley Mile racecourse at 9am on Wednesday, when the Group 3 winner was put through his paces by William Buick over seven furlongs with two stablemates. The son of Dubawi used the exercise rather than making a first trip away from Newmarket for the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at the weekend and settled nicely in behind before stretching out of the Dip past the deserted stands. On this evidence he will certainly be a contender in the 2,000 Guineas on April 30.

Second in the workout was the unbeaten King Of Time, who wore a hood to post but came back without one under James Doyle. The son of Kingman was watched by his breeder Bjorn Nielsen, who was just recovering from the "mind-blowing" experience of having spent a first morning at champion trainer Charlie Appleby's Moulton Paddocks powerbase. A dual winner on the all-weather at Lingfield in the spring, King Of Time is set for a first outing on turf in the Esher Cup at Sandown on Friday week.

Classic hopes

The Limekilns dry weather facility has been open for nearly a week, with little rain in East Anglia, and Frankie Dettori put Cazoo Oaks entry Emily Upjohn through her paces on the pristine round gallop. The daughter of Sea The Stars overcame the useful Secret Image on her debut at Wolverhampton last November and on this evidence she could be a player in one of the trials for John and Thady Gosden.

Saeed bin Suroor is a regular customer on the trial ground or 'golden mile' on the Limekilns as soon as it is available and he had some of his nicer unraced prospects there on Tuesday, including White Wolf. The son of Invincible Spirit was ridden by Louis Steward, who rode for the stable at the Dubai Carnival this year, in a seven-furlong exercise with senior stablemate Lost Gold. The way the three-year-old finished off his exercise would suggest he could be a force to be reckoned with and he holds entries in the Cazoo Derby and the Dante Stakes.

Two-year-olds

Qatar Racing manager David Redvers just missed out on a Zoustar filly who was the final lot at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sales the previous evening, but he had a colt by the same sire in his sights on the Limekilns short gallop. Ridden by retained jockey Cieren Fallon, the James Ferguson-owned colt is named Zoology and was said "to have everything" by the jockey on dismounting. Later Redvers was close to the trial ground to witness the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Swoon wing past under Richard Kingscote.
