'He has a lot of attributes to win' - Donnacha O'Brien on his Irish Derby horse
It is almost three years since Donnacha O'Brien recorded a breakthrough domestic Classic victory as a rider when Latrobe won the Irish Derby at the Curragh.
He already has a Classic to his name as a trainer after Fancy Blue bagged the French Oaks during his first season with a licence, and the sky-rocketing 22-year-old is hoping Fernando Vichi can give his stable more to smile about in the Irish Derby on Saturday.
Fernando Vichi has always been held in high regard by O'Brien and is hitting form at the right time, finishing third to Bolshoi Ballet in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown in May before an impressive victory in the Listed Nijinsky Stakes at that track this month.
