Did well in the circumstances
Marhaba The Champ
Second, Ripon, August 29
Did remarkably well to finish so close considering he was carried across the track by the wayward leader turning for home. He certainly lost more ground than he was beaten by and looks a ready-made winner of a similar event.
Is the first foal of her dam, who carried these colours to victory in the Musidora Stakes. She missed the break then had to deal with congestion when making her move, and all in all it was an encouraging debut.
Baltic Baron
Second, Newcastle, September 2
Has a poor strike-rate and isn't one to be going overboard about but he did well to finish as close as he did given the way this panned out. It could be that he will continue to get going too late but he's eligible for Class 6 events and might find one of those setting up perfectly for him.
Secret Strength
Second, Ascot, September 2
Finished to good effect from much further back than the winner and third, deserving extra credit for that. There may well be a race in him from this sort of mark when it all falls into place.
Others of note
City Vaults
Third, Ripon, August 29
Majestic Fighter
Fourth, Ascot, September 2
Fantasy Believer
Fifth, Kempton, September 3
Eyecatcher
Cochin
Third, Salisbury, September 1
Took a small step forward from her debut but, more notably, caught the eye in no uncertain terms as she powered through the line after getting outpaced. She appears to be more of a stayer than her pedigree might suggest and she looks the type to do well in handicaps as a three-year-old.
Drafted
Third, Haydock, September 1
Caught the eye on Tapeta last time out and, gelded since, it was the same story on this switch to a nursery. He finished with purpose after getting tapped for toe out widest, and more of a test ought to see him winning.
Pinafore
Ninth, Ascot, September 2
A 68,000euros purchase at the breeze-ups and made some late inroads after inexperience (slowly away) had left her with too much to do. Entered in the Group 1 Cheveley Park, she could improve markedly.
United Approach
Fifth, Ascot, September 2
Bred to get at least a mile in time, and did well to get as close as he did from such a long way back. There's a lot more to come and he could pick up a 7f novice near to hand.
Vocal Queen
Fourth, Navan, September 3
Was slow from the gates and turned for home at the back of the pack. She narrowly lost out on a spot on the podium but was the strongest finisher of all.
Others of note
Alexandretta
Second, Kempton, September 2
Palace View
Third, Kempton, September 2
Pink Crystal
Fifth, York, September 4
Promising
Rez
Fourth, Wolverhampton, August 31
A 290,000euros yearling, is a brother to 6f Group 3 winner Happy Romance, and this was a promising start, in need of the experience but staying on from an unfavourable position. He's open to a lot of improvement.
Paspaley
Third, Newcastle, September 2
A half-brother to a sprint winner in Australia and made a pleasing start to his career. Slowly away, he made up plenty of ground in the closing stages and would have pinched second in another stride or two. He could take a big step forward with this run behind him.
Divya
Third, Ascot, September 2
Shaped well on debut considering she's bred to be suited by further, making up ground late after she'd suffered some minor interference. She's likely to fully bloom next year, but there may well be a race in her at two.
Red Riding Hood
Second, Ascot, September 2
Made a pleasing debut without troubling the winner. Learning all the while, she was spared a hard race, so this tremendously well-bred filly appears to have a bright future.
Other of note
Tondeuse
Third, Wolverhampton, August 31
