Harry Fry to donate Cheltenham prize-money to Woollacott fund
Trainer Harry Fry has announced he will be donating any prize-money he receives at Cheltenham on Saturday to the fund set up in memory of trainer Richard Woollacott, who died aged 40 this week.
In his Betway blog, Fry said: "I'd like to pass on my condolences to Richard Woollacott's family. Obviously it's tragic news and we wish Beer Goggles and all his connections the very best in the Cleeve Hurdle. I'll be cheering him on from the stands.
"I see that his wife, Kayley, has set up an online fund in memory of Richard, with donations going to three good charities.
"Hopefully they raise lots of money and I'll be looking to contribute by donating the trainers' percentage of any prize-money we win on Saturday."
Fry has two runners at Cheltenham on Saturday, American in the BetBright Trial Cotswold Chase and Litterale Ci in the closing handicap hurdle.
The fund, which was announced by Woollacott's widow Kayley on Friday, will raise money for mental health charity Mind, the Injured Jockeys Fund and Devon Air Ambulance.
The Jockey Club, which owns Cheltenham, said it would hold a minute's silence for Woollacott at 3.20pm, 15 minutes before the Cleeve Hurdle in which Beer Goggles, Woollacott's stable star, is scheduled to run.
Cheltenham is also supporting the fundraising effort and will provide envelopes for donations at a dedicated marquee located above the winner's enclosure and before reaching Quevega's.
Those wishing to donate to the fund can do so here.
