Waterlogged Hamilton forced to cancel Monday meeting after heavy rain
Hamilton was forced to cancel its final fixture of the season on Monday after persistent rain left the course waterlogged.
Following 14mm of rain overnight and downpours throughout the morning, an inspection was called for 10am at which point course officials scrapped the eight-race meeting.
The ground was changed to heavy, soft in places (from good to soft, good in places) early on Monday morning.
Following the inspection, the track tweeted: "Sadly we've had to abandon racing today, following a 10am inspection of the track.
"One inch of rain in the last six hours has left the course saturated and with further rain forecast, unfortunately there is no prospect of racing. Ticket holders will be contacted directly."
The arrival of rain has also caused going changes at Britain's other two turf fixtures on Monday, with the ground good (from good, good to firm in places) at Newton Abbot and good to firm (from firm) at Bath.
