Josephine Gordon out for two weeks after suffering hand fracture at Ayr
Josephine Gordon faces two weeks out of action after revealing on her Unibet blog that she fractured her left hand in a stalls incident at Ayr on Saturday.
The 25-year-old, who rode 100 winners last year, went for an x-ray on Sunday where it was confirmed she had a fracture.
Gordon said: "I jumped awkwardly coming out of the stalls on Gnaad at Ayr on Saturday, and banged my left hand quite badly.
"I knew it wasn’t great at the time, but I flew home and went for an X–ray at Bury St Edmunds yesterday, which confirmed there was a fracture."
Hugo Palmer's stable jockey, who landed a first Group success on Koropick in the Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle last July, added that she hoped to be back for the Qatar Goodwood Festival [July 31-August 4].
"Hopefully I'll be back sooner rather than later, and I'm going to stick around for the next couple of weeks, staying active and keeping fit, and focus my sights on being A1 for Goodwood.
"I hope to be back riding before then, but I will obviously let the injury and the doctors dictate my comeback."
Hollie Doyle is another rider on the sidelines after suffering facial injuries in a fall at Haydock on Saturday night.
