Aidan O'Brien bemoaned the lack of pace for Los Angeles in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, conditions that forced Ryan Moore to make the running.
Moore pushed forward from stall ten and had claimed both the lead and the rail by the time the field disappeared momentarily from view behind the 'Petit Bois', halfway up the back straight.
That early effort was likely to leave the Ballydoyle first string vulnerable late on but Los Angeles – who like the winner is by Camelot – showed great resilience in battling for home to be two-and-a-quarter-lengths down on Bluestocking at the line.
