Longchamp once again rises to the occasion on an Arc day with something for everyone
While Irish Champions Weekend and British Champions Day may still be in their relative infancy, the end-of-season championship on which they are both to some extent modelled is now heading comfortably towards middle age.
But Longchamp's two-day Arc weekend continues to evolve, while some of the major equine and human performances will always carry significance even if the proof of the pudding may not come until next season.
Bluestocking a triumph for ambitious campaigning - sort of
The Arc winner might be seen in some quarters as something of a throwback to the way that older middle-distance horses used to be campaigned, having essentially run once a month since the middle of May, with five consecutive runs at Group 1 level.
