'He’s in really good form and we don’t mind what the ground is' - Shin Emperor team bullish ahead of historic Arc bid
Shin Emperor is reported to be "progressing well" following his excellent third in the Irish Champion Stakes and looked in good shape during a routine canter on Wednesday morning ahead of his attempt to bring Japan a first victory in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
Confidence in the Yoshito Yahagi camp could not be higher after stablemate Forever Young tuned up for his crack at the Breeders' Cup Classic with a comeback win under Ryusei Sakai at Oi Racecourse a couple of hours later.
That important date meant neither trainer nor jockey were in the Chantilly suburb of Lamorlaye to watch Shin Emperor work on Wednesday. The three-strong team preparing the three-year-old will have been keen observers of events in Japan, having travelled Loves Only You and Marche Lorraine to Del Mar for Yahagi's double breakthrough at the 2021 Breeders' Cup.
