All 18 entries in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe remain in contention following Tuesday's forfeit stage, moving one step closer to facing the start for Sunday's €5 million showpiece.

Aidan O'Brien has left Auguste Rodin among his five possibles alongside Opera Singer, who also has the option of the Prix de l'Opera over 1m2f for fillies and mares only.

Wertheimer et Frere have also left in Aventure, another filly who has the option of the Opera, as well as current ante-post favourite Sosie

The probable starters will be established on Wednesday morning, the point at which any supplemetary entries are also made, before final declarations and the draw on Thursday.

The ground at Longchamp remained virtually unchanged on Tuesday morning, with an official penetrometer measurement of very soft, and a Goingstick reading which is soft down the back straight and around the two turns, and good to soft in the home straight.

Despite daytime temperatures in the mid-to-high teens centigrade and just 0.2 millimetres of rain on Monday, the ground only moved by one decimal point on the French scale, from 4.0 to 3.9.

Tuesday will be dry with some sunshine and similar temperatures to Monday. Some isolated showers are forecast on Wednesday afternoon, amounting to no more than 0.5 millimetres, which is expected to be the last rain of the week.

While daytime temperatures remain quite stable throughout the run-up to Sunday's big race, overnight figures will get down to mid-single digits from Friday, which could also slow the rate at which the course can dry.

Officials at Longchamp have left their prognosis for Saturday and Sunday as varying between soft and very soft, which in Britain and Irish terms could equate to either good to soft or soft.
