Tom Marquand: 'Economics will have to be every bit as good as we're all dreaming if he's to beat a field like this'
Tom Marquand has been dealt a second ace on the opening day of the Irish Champions Festival at Leopardstown. Not only will he be riding hot favourite Economics in the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes, he will also be reunited with Porta Fortuna in the other Group 1 on the star-studded card.
Economics is box office, widely regarded as one of the most exciting horses in training, but Marquand thinks the runaway Dante winner will need to be every bit as good as he hopes to hand him a third Group 1 success of the season.
Marquand said: "Saturday is a big day. It's not often you get two big rides like that on the same day. Normally, you're lucky to have one, so it's really exciting.
