Moore shuns Mogul as Magical gets luck of the draw in Breeders' Cup Turf

Magical heads the betting for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf after the multiple Group 1-winning mare was drawn in stall two for Saturday’s contest at Keeneland.

Magical is the 11-4 favourite with Coral and Ladbrokes for the $4 million prize and will be ridden by Ryan Moore. Stablemate Mogul, who will be partnered by Pierre-Charles Boudot, must break from the widest stall of all in gate ten, while Tarnawa (three), Mehdaayih (four) and Lord North (six) received more favourable draws.

European runners dominate the final field for the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile with Kameko, who will break from gate two, the 4-1 favourite.

He will be joined in the contest by Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Siskin (four), Circus Maximus (one), Lope Y Fernandez (three), Safe Voyage (six), One Master (nine). The Aidan O'Brien-trained Order Of Australia is first reserve and will be ridden by Christophe Soumillon if getting a run.

Ladbrokes spokesman Jon Lees said: “With Ryan Moore choosing to partner Magical over Mogul, Aidan O’Brien’s outstanding mare has taken over favouritism for the race in which she finished second to Enable two years ago.

“With O’Brien alone having won the Turf six times, the race is again Europe’s best chance of success even though Kameko will be doing his best to bow out in style in the Mile.”

Kameko had a light exercise at Keeneland on Monday on what is set to be his final start before retiring to stud at the end of the year.

Maddy O'Meara, his regular work rider, said: “He seems in really good form. He travelled over well and is settled. I think he was pleased to get out on the training track for a leg stretch.”

In total 33 European-trained runners are set to take part in the two-day Breeders’ Cup meeting, which will take place without spectators, with the fixture getting under way on Friday.
