Corinthia Knight exploits make Music Society a runner well worth watching

With Aclaim, last year's Prix de la Foret winner, Danzeno and Prohibit among its former winners the 6f bet365.com Handicap (1.50) for three-year-olds only is a race to keep a close eye on for the future.

Among the leading contenders is the lightly raced Music Society, who has run only three times but whose form has been given a significant boost by Corinthia Kinght.

Corinthia Knight won his next four starts, including a Listed race and the all-weather championship sprint, after finishing a head behind Music Society when Music Society last ran at Wolverhampton in December.

Sylvester Kirk, trainer of Music Society, has booked Ryan Moore for what is only the colt's second start on turf.

"It's a very interesting race and could be very good," said Kirk. "Our all-weather form is what it is. You don't know until you take on solid horses. You never know whether Corinthia Knight was below par when we met him at Wolverhampton and if he was his form is ordinary.

"We do think Music Society is a nice horse and we've booked Ryan because we asked and he didn't have anything else. If Corinthia Knight ran up to form at Wolverhampton then we'd have a good chance because of what that horse has done since. We're going a bit on faith."

Captain Jameson was never out of the first three in a first season in which he won two out of five. He begins the campaign having been gelded over the winter.

"He had a good season last year," said trainer John Quinn. "This is the best race he's run in and he's running off a higher mark than at Doncaster, but he'll like the cut in the ground and is fit. We could be looking back on this race thinking it was quite useful. I expect him to run well."

Has Haggas got the winner again?

Among the numerous horses who have never won another race the occasional gem emerges from the bet365 Wood Ditton Stakes (2.25), an always-popular maiden contested by a field of unraced three-year-olds.

There are representatives from many of the leading owners, breeders and trainers, but often the most reliable guide is the market, with the favourite having struck five times since 2009.

One of the obvious candidates for that mantle is Military Band, a Godolphin colt trained by Saeed Bin Suroor who is a half-brother to Cracksman.

He has no big race entries, unlike Surya, a colt by Frankel out of Oaks winner Sariska who is engaged in both the Dante Stakes and the Derby.

The Wood Ditton is a particular favourite of William Haggas and both his previous winners in the last ten years proved well above average. Mukhadram won the Coral-Eclipse and Sky Kingdom was successful at Group 3 level.

His Prabeni, whose dam is related to the dam of Golden Horn, runs in Anthony Oppenheimer's Cracksman silks.

"It's a race I always like," said Haggas. "I ran Mukhadram in it once. He's not as good as him, but a nice horse all the same."
