William Hill will become the first bookmaker to offer non-runner money back on all 28 races at this season’s Cheltenham Festival at midday on New Year’s Day.

Online and in-shop punters will receive their full stake back if their selection does not run in the specified race at the big meeting in March. The promotion runs until March 9.

For multiples placed on a non-runner money back market, if any selection is a non-runner, the relevant selection will be voided, and the remaining horses will be settled accordingly.

The firm are sponsoring the County Hurdle for the first time on the final day of the festival.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “Racing fans have had a good look at a lot of the big guns over a fantastic festive period and many will be keen to begin making their ante-post positions for the Cheltenham Festival.

“At this stage, however, there are still multiple options open for horses across the board, so backing anything without the reassurance of getting your money back if it doesn’t turn up is tricky.

“By going non-runner money back at this early stage we hope to give punters the confidence to build a strong position for Cheltenham and get the interest building towards what is, for many, the greatest week in horseracing.”
