Calandagan 'in a good place' as money starts to come for French ace ahead of Economics showdown on Champions Day
Support is building for Calandagan ahead of Saturday's Qipco Champion Stakes showdown with Economics and confidence is set to grow further after connections reported him in A1 shape for his latest trip to Britain.
Ladbrokes trimmed Calandagan to 6-4 (from 2-1) behind their 11-8 favourite Economics, while there is still some 13-8 available about the Aga Khan's representative becoming the fourth French-trained winner of the race since it moved to Ascot from Newmarket in 2011, and the owner's first success since Kalanisi in 2000.
On Monday trainer Francis Graffard oversaw a breeze at Chantilly racecourse featuring both Calandagan and King George hero Goliath, who is due to run in the Prix du Conseil de Paris at Longchamp on Sunday in preparation for a crack at the Japan Cup.
