'Ronnie Bartlett assures us he's in the same category as Simonsig and Ballyburn' - five Nicky Henderson dark horses for the season
Jumps stable tours are back! Powerhouse trainer Nicky Henderson kicked off our must-read winner-finding series in Tuesday's Racing Post newspaper, in which he outlined plans for his legion of stars in a free eight-page supplement. Sign up to Racing Post Members' Club Ultimate with 50% off for your first three months to get exclusive access to our unmissable stable tour series as the jumps season ramps up. You can find out more here.
Available as a free sample below, Henderson shares five potential dark horses for the season, including a £400,000 purchase and a filly who "could be anything".
Ideal Des Bordes
6g Coastal Path - Carmen Des Bordes
Mrs C Hanbury & Mrs H Mackenzie Smith
1/332P-1
RPR 118h OR 118h
He's a point-to-point winner who got off the mark for us at the fifth attempt in a novice hurdle at Kempton in May. He might not be as high on everyone's radar as some, but I think he could be progressive going three miles over fences. He could be an exciting project and he's certainly an individual who could go a very long way in that sphere.
Incisive
6g Crillon - Charmoise
RA Bartlett
1- (point-to-point)
RPR -
He's owned by the one and only Ronnie Bartlett, who assures us he's in the same category as [his Cheltenham Festival winners] Simonsig and Ballyburn, so we'll do our best to keep him unbeaten. He won his only point-to-point in Scotland this spring.
Minella Premier
4g Shantou - Solas Me Suas
OS Harris
1- (point-to-point)
RPR 94p
We paid £400,000 for him and I hope he's a high-class horse. He was certainly impressive in his point-to-point in Ireland in May, which he won by 12 lengths, and he's going very well. I think he'll almost certainly go over hurdles. He's a very exciting prospect indeed.
That's Nice
4f Walk In The Park - Bloody Mary
JP McManus
1- (point-to-point)
RPR 87p
She was impressive when she won her only point-to-point in Ireland in February and she looks an extremely exciting prospect. She's coming along nicely and is ready to start over hurdles this autumn. She could be anything.
And an unraced horse . . .
Uptown Lass came from last year's Goffs Land Rover Sale and is a very good individual who showed us plenty of sparkle in the spring. She was all but ready to run in a bumper and we think she's capable of winning in that sphere before embarking on a hurdles career.
