'He's our best chance of winning the Derby for many years'
David Milnes speaks to the Godolphin trainer about his big hopes for the year
Godolphin's longest-serving trainer Saeed bin Suroor is searching for new stars after last year's flagbearer and dual Dubai World Cup winner Thunder Snow was retired to stud in Japan, joining Best Solution in no longer being around at the yard formerly known as Stanley House.
The pair contributed to a bumper worldwide prize-money haul of £8.6 million for the stable in 2019, which included a return to more than £1 million in Britain after a rare dip below that threshold in 2018.
Bin Suroor's third big earner, Benbatl, is still in residence. He could have a Dubai World Cup victory himself by now had the race not been called off in March – he was ante-post favourite after his solid third in the Saudi Cup – and is already pencilled in for the 2021 version, for which he may well start his build-up here in the autumn.
