Galloping into the sun-drenched home straight in the Belmont Stakes in June, Justify had little more than a furlong to go before his coronation as the 13th US Triple Crown winner, in the process earning himself a place alongside the greatest names in horseracing history.
The strapping chestnut with the big white face had achieved for his connections one of the biggest and most elusive triumphs in the sport.
He was looked on with awe as he paraded around in the aftermath of his success wearing the red and yellow silks of owners China Horse Club (CHC), which shared the superstar colt with majority owner WinStar Farm, Head Of Plains Partners and Starlight Racing prior to his sale for $75 million and retirement to stud at Coolmore.
