Pat Cooney, bet365 A Plus Tard was an excellent runner-up last season, staying on really well, and can go one better this time. He’s young enough to improve again and, given that he’s finished in the first three in all 16 career starts, he looks a good each-way bet at 10-1.

Adam Killeen, Betfair With Monkfish ruled out for the season none of last year’s novices look obvious Gold Cup contenders and at this stage I’ll side with A Plus Tard to go one better than last season.

Alan Reilly, BoyleSports It will be fascinating to see how last season’s winner and runner-up Minella Indo and A Plus Tard are campaigned, given they come from the same stable, while I’m looking at Chantry House to progress into a Gold Cup contender.
