Split operation across town proving no barrier to success for up-and-coming Jack Jones
Having yards on both sides of Newmarket is something that has been tried recently by the likes of Hugo Palmer and Kevin Philippart de Foy, with varying degrees of success, but up-and-coming Jack Jones seems to be making it work after recently passing the landmark of 50 career winners from his split operation.
The former understudy to Richard Spencer started out with just half a dozen horses from a spare barn at Rae Guest’s yard on the Hamilton Road in 2022, since when he has filled the 14 available there as well as a similar number across at St Gatien Cottage Stables off Vicarage Road.
Jones hit the headlines with his Flat team this summer when his juvenile Caburn won the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury and his trainer is hoping he could make up into a 2,000 Guineas horse next year.
