L’Eau Du Sud impressive but needs to improve 15lb to win even an average Arkle
Arguably the best performance on Saturday was by L’Eau Du Sud in the Paddy Power Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices' Chase at Cheltenham, where he achieved a career-best Racing Post Rating of 153.
That puts him up with the best novice chasers we have seen this season. L’Eau Du Sud won this hard held and was eased late on in the race, so there is no doubting there is more to come from this progressive six-year-old.
Western Zephyr (136) in second achieved a personal best, with third Lookaway (135) improving on his previous run over fences and can do better still based on his hurdle form.
