There will be no new trainers on the Cheveley Park Stud roster for 2025 in the wake of the retirement of their main man Sir Michael Stoute, but there will be more to go round for those already supported in Newmarket and beyond.

Stoute had been the mainstay of the operation for nearly 40 years and since 1988 he has trained 372 winners in Britain for the Patricia Thompson-owned stud, with many more overseas including Queen’s Trust, who was successful at the Breeders’ Cup in 2016.

Other Group 1 winners in the famous red, white and blue from Freemason Lodge (and adjacent Beech Hurst) over the years include top fillies Russian Rhythm (1,000 Guineas) and fellow Group 1 winners Echelon, Peeress and Integral, while the colt Medicean went on to become a successful stallion at the stud’s base off Newmarket’s Duchess Drive.
