It could be Commonwealth Cup over a Classic for Powerful Glory - but this novice winner might be Epsom-bound
There was one solitary 2,000 Guineas quote of 50-1 from Unibet for Powerful Glory after his Mill Reef success at Newbury. But that doesn’t mean he won’t be a seriously good horse for Richard Fahey next year.
Powerful Glory scraped home against a four-race maiden in La Bellota on Saturday, but he deserves credit for pulling this race out of the fire on vastly different ground to what he faced at Pontefract on his debut, which was heavy as opposed to good to firm. Furthermore, the Fahey yard really knows the time of day – their Ribchester went on from victory in this race to become a proper Group 1 horse – and are adamant he is very good.
However, the issue with the Guineas quote is that he could well turn out to be a sprinter, so a horse for something like a Commonwealth Cup rather than a Classic.
