Impressive juveniles take centre stage - and this one stands out as a Classic bet at 40-1

There were some impressive two-year-old performances on Saturday and, from an ante-post perspective, most interesting was the victory of Wimbledon Hawkeye in the Royal Lodge at Newmarket.

The James Owen-trained colt comfortably saw off Royal Playwright by a length and a half and could now head to the Futurity Trophy and a possible rematch with his Acomb conqueror, The Lion In Winter. He's a best-priced 8-1 for that Group 1 but connections don't seem certain yet about Doncaster.

Targets next year could include the 2,000 Guineas, for which he is 25-1, or perhaps more realistically the Derby, for which his price ranges between 14-1 and 40-1.
