'It's been challenging' - manager of the year Sandra Gilmartin on tough times

November 2019; nobody had yet heard of Covid-19 but life for Sandra Gilmartin had already changed dramatically.

Newly crowned as Racing Post/SIS Betting Shop Manager of the Year, she said: "I have a wonderful year ahead," referring to a list of exciting engagements, including her main prize, a VIP visit to Hong Kong, which was awaiting her in April 2020.

A year later, it is still waiting and Gilmartin has enjoyed/endured the longest-ever reign as the figurehead of the betting business, with plans for the next Betting Shop Manager of the Year hoping to be confirmed by the summer.
