Sheikh Mohammed is the greatest investor horseracing has ever known, but it has been some time since his Godolphin colours were carried by the best horse on the planet.

Indeed, until Ghaiyyath officially secured the world title this week, two whole decades had gone by since Dubai Millennium and Sakhee carried the all blue of Godolphin to land consecutive world championships in 2000 and 2001.

Of course, coming across the best horse in the world in any given year is not easy, but powerhouse owner-breeders have shown they can keep producing the best once their buying, breeding and racing divisions find harmony.
