Ibas welcomes proposals for new gambling ombudsman - and it wants the job

The Independent Betting Adjudication Service (Ibas) has set out its case to fill the role of the gambling ombudsman proposed by many as part of the government's review of gambling legislation.
Managing director Richard Hayler believes Ibas's 23 years of experience in resolving disputes between bookmakers and their customers should form the foundation of any new body brought in to handle consumer complaints.
There have been calls for the creation of a gambling ombudsman from numerous industry bodies and interest groups hoping to influence the government as it seeks to make good on its manifesto pledge to make the relevant laws "fit for the digital age".
