Homeless Songs clear on ratings in ultra-impressive Irish 1,000 Guineas win
Native Trail was a decisive winner of the Irish 2,000 Guineas, and for all he is very good, he didn’t need to be at his best to win, achieving an RPR of 120 –1lb below his rating when second in the English equivalent.
The form leaves a little to be desired with Native Trail 7lb clear of his closest challenger Buckaroo (115) on RPRs coming into the race. New Energy (114), Imperial Fighter (112) and Wexford Native (111) all improved, recording personal bests.
It was a good performance from Native Trail, but in the wider context of the race it only rates an average running of the race. Of the English, French and Irish 2,000 Guineas this ranks in the middle, with the French edition being the weakest.
