'His pace awareness is as good as it gets and you don't see him make mistakes'

I went through Saturday's Celebration Mile beforehand for Ed Walker, who ran Stormy Antarctic, and there wasn't a lot of pace in it, so tactics were always going to play a big part.

There was the potential that it could develop into a messy race. And that is rather how it turned out.

From the mile start at Goodwood, the course begins fairly level, then there is quite a climb to the top bend. Andrea Atzeni was prepared to make the running on Finest Sound if nobody else wanted to, but he was determined not to give anyone cover over that first furlong and a half.
