Former jockey George Baker analyses a fine ride by a man with all eyes on him
It was his only ride of the day and the pressure was on, but Frankie Dettori delivered the goods.
Under pressure or not, Frankie Dettori was not in a rush to go forward from the stalls on Lezoo and was happy to take a lead in the 6f fillies' Listed contest at Newmarket on Saturday. His key objective was to get his filly cover and into a relaxed rhythm, as she'd had only one start.
There had looked to be a lot of pace in the race, but that is not how it turned out. It was actually quite messy from that perspective and it was important not to be too far out of your ground, but Frankie was happy to take a tow while his filly travelled strongly.
