Looking through the Lillie Langtry Stakes there was no confirmed pace and it was open for someone to make the running, especially as several of the field would have been keen to avoid it turning into a sprint.

Jason Hart clearly knew that on Urban Artist, who was a proven stayer, and he blew out of the water the way that you would normally ride over these extended trips at Goodwood, which made for a fascinating race to watch.

He wasn't the quickest out of the gates from stall seven but stayed out wide running down the hill into the first bend. He gave his mount around a furlong to get up a head of steam and then gradually tacked over to the rail, without any pressure on him up front. The field was well spread out behind the solid pace he set.
