'Hard to see Kempton winner Mister Fisher threatening Allaho in Ryanair'
Mister Fisher (RPR 165+) posted the best figure on a good Kempton card when running out a comfortable winner of the Grade 2 Coral Silviniaco Conti Chase, in the process putting himself in line for another crack at the Ryanair Chase.
Rated 168 when taking the rescheduled Peterborough Chase at Cheltenham in December 2020, the style and the substance of Saturday's defeat of the reliable Eldorado Allen (161) suggests he remains capable of at least equalling that level of performance.
However, matching the ten-year average rating of 173 for the winner of the Ryanair looks a tallish order – albeit not completely out of the question – and it's hard to see him posing a serious threat to a peak-form Allaho.
The Willie Mullins-trained eight-year-old was an outstanding winner of the race last season, maintaining a brutal gallop that saw less than half of the 11-strong field complete. Among the pulled up that day was Mister Fisher and, in posting a winning RPR of 178, Allaho moved ahead of Cue Card (176) and Vautour (175) to become the highest-rated winner of the race.
