On paper there was no real confirmed pace in the Dewhurst at Newmarket on Saturday. There were horses who could make it, but it was definitely Andrew Balding and Frankie Dettori's plan to roll along with Chaldean.

Frankie had mapped out in his mind the perfect set-up. You saw in the Champagne Stakes that he clicked along in an easier race and he is a very straightforward horse.

Unfortunately he was very slowly away and Frankie had to really organise him to get into stride from stall five; it was not the start he would have hoped for.
