Firms face new penalties as Gambling Commission refuses to wait for white paper

The Gambling Commission is consulting on penalties for gambling operators

Gambling operators were last week warned they could be facing wider penalties for regulatory failures following a Gambling Commission consultation this summer.

The regulator's chief executive Andrew Rhodes outlined the commission's thinking when answering questions at a conference organised by the Westminster Media Forum.

Rhodes said he was already on the record as saying he believed there was a risk that operators saw fines as being a "tax" on non-compliance
