I'm sure Ahoy Senor will bounce back from that mishap on his chase debut and progress through the ranks. He was in the process of running a good race at Carlisle and these things happen.

He's the type of chasing prospect Lucinda Russell specialises with and his hurdle form in beating Bravemansgame stacks up really well.

Ask Me Early is my kind of horse as he'd gallop through a brick wall for you. He won three last season when Harry Fry's team weren't really firing on all cylinders. He's a brilliant jumper and I loved his attitude when he won over hurdles at Exeter the other day and I think the plan is to go for the Welsh Grand National Trial. Secret Reprieve won that before going on to win the big one last season and Ask Me Early might be able to do the same double.

Like everyone else I was mightily impressed with Shishkin last season – how could you not be? – and he's got everything you want in a horse. He'd probably win over further but I don't think there's any need to go beyond two miles at this stage. There are so many options for him.

Going over to Ireland, the old darling Honeysuckle is a must for any list. She's so professional and loves winning. She has such a great constitution and she and Rachael Blackmore are made for each other.

Minella Indo is tough and hardy and was probably a little undercooked for his comeback at Down Royal. Cheltenham Gold Cup winners are campaigned differently to years gone by and he'll keep improving as the season goes on.

Appreciate It looked a monster when demolishing the Supreme Novices' Hurdle field and is clearly an exciting addition to the novice chase ranks. Similar sentiments apply to Bob Olinger, who you'd imagine will go over two and a half miles with Appreciate It sticking to two.

After a disappointing end to last season, Envoi Allen showed his wellbeing on his comeback at Down Royal and looks back to the horse who got us all so excited.

A Plus Tard ran a blinder in second in last season's Gold Cup when only beaten by stablemate Minella Indo and it's great to hear he'll be coming over for the Betfair Chase. Having a top-class Irish horse adds spice to the race and I think you might find more horses from Ireland coming over for other big races like the King George.

That is a race last year's winner Frodon will be aimed at and I find it interesting Paul Nicholls has hinted at heading across for the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown in February at a time when others might have their full attention focused on Cheltenham.
