Enable, Ghaiyyath, Japan and Lord North entered for epic Eclipse on Sunday
Enable will make her seasonal comeback as one of a star-studded potential field of eight in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Sunday, with Ghaiyyath and Lord North among the possible challengers.
Khalid Abdullah's outstanding mare started last season with a convincing victory in this race and is a general 11-10 chance to repeat that success in what looks a deeper contest. Regular rider Frankie Dettori will take the ride.
Ghaiyyath, the mount of William Buick, will head to Sandown following his destructive performance in the Coronation Cup at the start of the month. He is rated a general 5-2 chance for the Godolphin operation.
Enable's stablemate Lord North was last seen producing a three-and-three-quarter-length rout in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes.
Aidan O'Brien has two entries in the Group 1 event with Japan and globetrotter Magic Wand, while Japanese raider Deirdre also features, alongside Regal Reality and Bangkok.
'Maybe her defeat at Longchamp has given others hope'
Stuart Riley gives his assessment ahead of Sunday's thrilling contest
What a race the Coral-Eclipse is shaping up to be. The fear when racing resumed and John Gosden nominated the Eclipse as Enable’s starting point was that she would scare off most credible opposition –but not a bit of it.
Instead she has almost acted like a beacon. Ghaiyyath looked very good in the Coronation Cup, Lord North put clear water into his Prince of Wales’s rivals while Japan, Magic Wand, Regal Reality and Bangkok have the benefit of a prep run under their belts and we know Deirdre is a talented mare.
Maybe Enable's defeat at Longchamp has given others hope – we know she is beatable now after all. Maybe it is the fact she is six and could be vulnerable first time out. She almost certainly will not go off at 4-6 like she did last year provided they all stand their ground. If they do it will be a race to savour.
