Emphatic victory to remain unbeaten - who earned our performance of the week?
The Racing Post's awards will honour the best (and sometimes worst) performances and raise talking points from the last seven days of racing. This week's winners are . . .
Performance of the week
In the build-up to Saturday’s Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, the name on everyone's lips was Baaeed. The racing world was desperate to see if the William Haggas-trained four-year-old could enhance his reputation as one of the biggest stars in the sport.
Thankfully the magic is still there as he extended his unbeaten record to seven with an emphatic victory at Newbury. Jockey Jim Crowley barely had to lift a finger as Baaeed produced an incredible turn of foot to take off and finish three and a quarter lengths clear of Real World.

Ride of the week
Stephen Mulqueen on Spark Of Madness
Jockey Stephen Mulqueen will not be forgetting his spectacular victory on Spark Of Madness at Perth any time soon.
At the second fence, contact was made between Spark Of Madness and Fabrique En France which forced Mulqueen off balance on landing. It looked as if the rider was about to be unseated, but he somehow managed to hold on to his mount and jumped the next with his feet out of the irons.
Despite the early drama, and a mistake at the last, Mulqueen came home first aboard Spark Of Madness for trainer Lucinda Russell.

Hype horse of the week
Despite having just a Nottingham maiden win to his name, a lot of people were talking about Desert Crown in the build-up to the Dante on Thursday. How could he be so short in the Cazoo Derby market (6-1 second favourite before the race) with so little to judge him on? His performance showed us just why.
His inexperience did not hold him back as he dismissed a decent field in impressive style, which propelled him to the top of the Derby betting ahead of the Aidan O'Brien-trained Stone Age. Sir Michael Stoute kept his cards close to his chest both before and after his Dante success, but he now has a real chance of claiming a sixth win in the Epsom Classic.

Debut of the week
Trainer James Fanshawe could not have asked for a better start to Royal Scandal's career as the filly made a winning debut on the all-weather at Newcastle in notable fashion under Daniel Muscutt.
Held-up from the off, she scythed her way through the field in the straight, running into minor trouble on a number of occasions, but once she saw daylight she flew home down the outer to win a shade cosily.

Royal Ascot clue of the week
A crack at the Coventry Stakes could be on the cards for Persian Force after a fine performance in the conditions Stakes at Newbury on Saturday, when he remained unbeaten in two starts for trainer Richard Hannon.
Despite beating only two rivals – the Andrew Balding-trained Holguin and Aidan O'Brien-trained Sierra Blanca – Persian Force showed plenty of ability, to fill his trainer with more confidence.
The son of Mehmas is a brother to Gubbass, also trained by Hannon, and the Brocklesby winner is favourite for the Royal Ascot race at a general 7-2.

Shock of the week
A big-priced winner always draws attention and that was the case with Global Style, who scored at 25-1 in a mile handicap at Chelmsford on Saturday.
Why is this result the shock of the week? Well, he had been winless in all 38 starts before this victory.
Trainer Tony Carroll and jockey Luke Morris ended the day in fine form as Global Style's win was part of a 285-1 double as Thunderoad struck in the previous race.
