Elsworth refused entry to Doncaster paddock without badge
Doncaster issued an apology on Saturday to David Elsworth after the veteran trainer was not allowed into the parade ring 24 hours after celebrating winning the Doncaster Cup at the track.
A course spokesman said: "We’d like to apologise to Mr Elsworth on this occasion but, as I’m sure he can appreciate, security at the racecourse is of utmost importance at this time, especially given recent events.
"Our team go to great lengths to make sure that only people with the correct accreditation are able to access sensitive areas of the racecourse."
The Newmarket trainer, 77, won the Doncaster Cup with Desert Skyline on Friday and unlike his reticent reaction to winning the 2015 Juddmonte International at York with Arabian Queen, he was the centre of attention post-race in the winner's circle which is in the parade ring.
Elsworth ran Sir Dancealot in the same colours as Desert Skyline in the second race of the day, the Group 2 Park Stakes, finishing sixth of the eight runners.
