In the modern era of multiple Epsom darts, might this be the moment that breathes life into the old maxim about a trainer not having any Derby horse if he thinks he has four?

It sure feels a bit like that. When Ballydoyle suddenly deploys the curly finger for five expected runners in the premier Classic, you'd think it would blow the race wide open.

On the contrary, though. Bolshoi Ballet, the chosen one, has been tightened up to 11-10 (from 5-4). It's not a huge reach to interpret the move as a resounding vote of confidence in the Galileo colt from the Ballydoyle maestro, who has not travelled with a single bullet for 17 years.
