Hayley Turner returned to the saddle with a winner at Windsor on Monday evening when scoring aboard the Michael Bell-trained debutante Flying Sparkle.

Turner, who has now joined ITV Racing's presenting team, took the ride as part of a warm-up for taking part in the Lady Jockeys’ Thoroughbred World Championship being staged in Sweden at Bro Park, Stockholm on Tuesday, and admitted she was “pleased to be back”.

However, there was a small scare as the At The Races and ITV pundit was unshipped after the line when the saddle slipped on the daughter of Fast Company. But Turner was quickly back on the filly and partnered her into the winner's circle.

“That was fabulous as I've been getting fit riding out for Michael Bell and I had been getting on so well with the filly at home so he let me keep the ride and, although it was her first run, those with experience in the race had not done much," she said.

“I've been training at home and doing hill runs but you can't beat race-riding and I must admit I was blowing a bit when I got down to the start, but the filly has run really well to win nicely.”

When asked if the rumour that she had jocked off Ryan Moore to get the ride, Turner added: “I think he had the option, that’s all I can say.”

Turner left the racecourse and headed straight to the airport as she was booked aboard an 8pm flight to Sweden.
