Japanese star mare Deirdre was one of eight top fillies and mares entered for Thursday's Qatar Nassau Stakes (3.15), the feature on day three at Glorious Goodwood.

Falmouth Stakes winner Nazeef, successful on her last six starts, features among the entries alongside smart older mares Magic Wand and Queen Power.

There is a strong challenge from the Classic generation, fronted by French Oaks heroine Fancy Blue. The Donnacha O'Brien-trained runner held off Alpine Star in a photo-finish to record Classic success, with her trainer opting for the Nassau over last weekend's Irish Oaks.

Unbeaten French raider Tawkeel, trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, could look to build on her five-length demolition in the Prix Saint Alary last time.

Group 3 winner One Voice is another in contention for the Jessica Harrington team while Lavender's Blue completes the octet.

Deirdre made history when striking at 20-1 in this contest last season, being the first Japanese-trained top-level winner in Britain since 2000. She will once again be ridden by Oisin Murphy.

Also on Thursday's Goodwood card, ten top two-year-olds have been entered for the Qatar Richmond Stakes (2.15), including Royal Ascot and July Stakes runner-up Yazaman. The son of Kodiac has finished behind Tactical on his last two starts and sets the standard against the likes of Swiss Ace, Gussy Mac and Qaader.

The John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (2.45) has attracted a quality field of middle-distance prospects including Al Aasy, Tiger Moth and English King, who is looking to bounce back from his Derby defeat at Epsom.
