Crowley's milestone is just another reason for a rider in sizzling form to smile

It should come as no surprise that Jim Crowley has hit the 2,000-winner mark. The way his summer has gone it feels as though the majority of those wins have come at this year's major Flat festivals.
Nothing better sums up the metamorphosis of Crowley from journeyman jump jockey to elite-level Flat rider than his achievements these last three months.
Sporting the colours of his boss Hamdan Al Maktoum, Crowley struck six times at Royal Ascot, including with an opening-day treble. There was Group 1 glory on Battaash and a further top-flight success on Nazeef at Newmarket. At Glorious Goodwood he was again rampant, most memorably aboard Mohaather in the Sussex Stakes, while on the Friday of York he swept up the first four contests, every one of them in the blue and white of Sheikh Hamdan, including a fourth Group 1 of the season in the Nunthorpe.
