The return of jump racing two weeks into Horse Racing Ireland's behind-closed-doors resumption schedule has been welcomed by leading dual-purpose trainer Gavin Cromwell, with summer jumping set to take off on June 22 at Limerick.

Next month's full racing programme will be released in the coming days, along with details of the Flat season's black type and premier handicap contests, but the Champion Hurdle-winning handler believes the prompt return of jump racing is a positive development.

Earlier this month, leading jumps figures Robbie Power and Gordon Elliott called for HRI to resume jump racing earlier than the month-long jumping hiatus previously outlined by the governing body, with those plans understood to have been formulated on a best-case-scenario basis of a May resumption.
