Confirmed runners and riders for the King George as Battaash faces six
Battaash will face six rivals in Friday's King George Qatar Stakes as Charlie Hills's record breaker bids for a fourth success in the race.
The Sheikh Hamdan-owned six-year-old is already the winningmost horse in the Group 2's history, having won the race every year since 2017, but in Prix de l'Abbaye winner Glass Slippers and King's Stand third Liberty Beach he faces some high-class opposition.
Jim Crowley has been aboard for all three wins and is in the saddle again, with Tom Eaves retaining the ride on Glass Slippers and Jason Hart aboard Liberty Beach.
Top French rider Stephane Pasquier comes over for the ride on the Fabrice Chappet-trained Ken Colt, who won the Listed Prix Hampton at Chantilly last time out from the reopposing Al Raya, ridden by William Buick.
Ken Colt gave the favourite Al Raya 9lb and a two-length beating that day and races in the colours of Chris Wright. The Oisin Murphy-ridden Ornate and Dubai Station, the mount of Tom Marquand, complete the seven-strong field.
Elsewhere on Goodwood's Friday card, impressive Britannia Stakes winner Khaloosy will clash with 19-length Newcastle winner Tilsit in the Group 3 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes (2.15). My Oberon, Mystery Power and Repartee complete the five-runner field.
The Richard Hannon-trained Urban Icon heads the weights for the competitive Unibet Golden Mile Handicap (2.45), with 15 runners declared including Sir Busker, Montatham and last Saturday's International Stakes second Cliffs of Capri.
