New London, the ante-post second favourite for the Cazoo Derby, will face four rivals in the Boodles Chester Vase (3.10) on Wednesday.

Godolphin and Charlie Appleby won Saturday's Qipco 2,000 Guineas with Coroebus and they will look to another son of Dubawi to emerge as a Classic prospect in the Derby trial at Chester's May meeting.

New London won a Newmarket maiden on debut in October and returned to the same course to score impressively at the Craven meeting, after which he was cut to 14-1 (from 20) for the Derby.

Those odds have contracted further and he is now a general 8-1 shot, behind only Guineas third Luxembourg – the 5-2 market leader – with some firms.

No trainer has won the Group 3 Chester Vase more times than Aidan O'Brien, who seeks a tenth victory with Changingoftheguard.

The Ballydoyle trainer, whose 2013 winner Ruler Of The World and 2017 runner-up Wings Of Eagles both went on to claim glory at Epsom, has run more than one of his bluebloods in this race in the past but is solely represented this time.

Winless in three starts at two, the Galileo colt got off the mark on his seasonal return at Dundalk last month when relishing the step up to 1m2½f to win by six lengths.

The Michael Bell-trained Dillian, who finished sixth in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud in October, has the highest official rating in the field but is the only one not to have had a run this season.

Berkshire Rebel, whose trainer Andrew Balding took the race last year with Youth Spirit, and the Sean Woods-trained Savvy Victory complete the line-up.

Joseph O'Brien saddles Above The Curve, a general 16-1 chance for the Cazoo Oaks, in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Pro Cheshire Oaks (2.40).

The American Pharoah filly landed a Leopardstown maiden last month by two and three-quarter lengths from Thoughts Of June, who reopposes at Chester for Aidan O'Brien.

Recent all-weather winners Hello Jumeirah and Night Battle also feature in the ten-strong field for the Listed contest.
