Full list of runners and riders for the 2022 Scottish Grand National at Ayr

Borders trainer Sandy Thomson will be double-handed in his bid to land his first Coral Scottish Grand National (3.35) after leading hope The Ferry Master and Hill Sixteen were among 24 declared for the Ayr feature on Saturday.

Thomson finished third in the race with Seeyouatmidnight in 2016 and runner-up with Dingo Dollar last year and his team will be headed by The Ferry Master, who also hit the frame in the race when fourth 12 months ago.

The nine-year-old is now as short as 9-1 with the race sponsor and will be ridden by Grand National-winning jockey Ryan Mania, while Thomson's other representative Hill Sixteen will race off topweight of 11st 12lb.

Amateur jockey Rob James has picked up the ride on Eider Chase heroine Win My Wings in the Coral Scottish Grand National and forms a formidable team for Christian Williams, with the trainer also saddling ante-post favourite Kitty's Light.

The nine-year-old was successful at Newcastle under Ryan Mania but Williams has called on the services of the Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey for the big-race ride, with James able to claim 7lb too.

Stablemate Kitty's Light will be reunited with Jack Tudor having finished second in the Coral Trophy last month under Brian Hughes.

3.35 Ayr Saturday: Coral Scottish Grand National racecard and betting

Promising novice chasers Fantastikas, Ashtown Lad and Major Dundee have all been declared as has the Olly Murphy-trained The Wolf, who finished second in the Edinburgh National in February.

Streets of Doyen, trained by John McConnell, was delcared a non-runner on Friday.

A notable absentee was the Henry Daly-trained Fortescue, who holds a Grand National entry at Aintree a week on Saturday, while previous topweight Hewick was also not declared.

A maximum field of 30 could have contested the Scottish National, however the field of 24 remains higher than last year's running, which attracted 23 runners at the final declarations stage.

In the Coral-backed Scottish Champion Hurdle (2.25), Milkwood has been declared and will face eight rivals as he bids to defend his crown.

The Neil Mulholland-trained eight-year-old will come up against Greatwood Hurdle winner West Cork, who finished fourth in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, as well as classy handicapper Onemorefortheroad.
