Confirmed runners and riders for Sunday's Old Roan Chase at Aintree
Last year's winner Nuts Well heads eight horses declared for Sunday's Grade 2 Jewson Monet's Garden Old Roan Chase at Aintree.
The star of trainer Ann Hamilton's six-strong stable, Nuts Well returned with a decisive victory at Kelso this month on his seasonal reappearance and will be bidding to become the first back-to-back winner of the contest since Monet's Garden in 2009 and 2010.
Ian Hamilton, husband of Ann, told Chris Cook in The Front Runner on Friday: "Aye, he's in great fettle. You'd think he'd never had a race after Kelso. By the time we got him back to the stables, he wasn't blowing."
The weights for the 2m4f handicap are headed by the Dan Skelton-trained Allmankind, while Paul Nicholls, who has won the Old Roan Chase three times, saddles Tamaroc Du Mathan.
Itchy Feet was third to Nuts Well at Aintree last year and his trainer Olly Murphy is pitching the seven-year-old into the race once more.
Speaking in his Racing Post Stable Tour on Friday, Murphy said: "He ran well in the race last year and it's not easy mixing it with the big boys at the top level but he's a good horse on his day."
The race is completed by Fanion D'Estruval, Midnight Shadow, Huntsman Son and Killer Clown.
