Cheltenham Festival tips: best bets for Tuesday's card from Racing Post experts

Day one of the Cheltenham Festival is upon us – but who do our top tipsters fancy most?

Burning Victory

By Paul Kealy

Race: Close Brothers Mares' Hurdle (4.10 Cheltenham)

Forecast SP:8-1

She was always in control when running a career best to beat Queens Brook at Punchestown in February, and although Gordon Elliott seems confident of gaining revenge on 3lb better terms, the disparity in the betting between them is daft, especially given Burning Victory was a 1-2 shot last time.

Magic Daze

By Tom Segal

Race: Sporting Life Arkle Novices' Chase (2.10 Cheltenham)

Forecast SP:14-1

Over fences Magic Daze jumped brilliantly when winning at Cork by 25 lengths in November and if she gets into a good rhythm it will take a good gelding to give her 7lb.

Mighty Potter

By Brian Sheerin

Race: Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle (1.30 Cheltenham)

Forecast SP:6-1

One could argue that Mighty Potter deserves to be unbeaten and there is a case to be made he is Gordon Elliott's best novice hurdler. He's certainly the classiest and, with the race likely to be run to suit Mighty Potter, he should at least fill the frame and may even deliver a knockout punch to his more high-profile rivals.

Cheltenham Festival tips: one key runner from each ITV race on Tuesday

Saint Segal

By Robbie Wilders

Race: Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle (4.50 Cheltenham)

Forecast SP:14-1

Jane Williams knows the time of day with juveniles and this four-year-old looks nicely treated off an opening mark of 126 on the form of his Grade 1 second at Chepstow. Chester Williams was unable to utilise his 3lb claim there and Saint Segal travelled powerfully into the contest, without seeing out his race in the same manner as Porticello on soft ground.
