'You have to have a lot of heart' - Sam Thomas dreams of more Welsh Grand National success
Sam Thomas is hoping history can repeat itself as he targets the £150,000 Welsh Grand National at Chepstow on Friday.
A winner of the track's feature race in 2021, Thomas will make the short 50-mile round trip from his South Glamorgan base with Iwilldoit, winner of the 3m6½f marathon test three years ago, and Jubilee Express.
Thomas, who is keen on his chances as he attempts to become the fourth trainer in the last 20 years to win the race more than once, said: "It doesn't matter what you do with them at home, it takes a special horse to be able to cope with the conditions of the race.
